But once 4G is implemented, will Verizon's internet and downloading be the same or faster speed-wise than AT&T?
I know currently AT&T is faster...

You guys are missing a huge point. A couple actually. There not going to take away the high storage and only leave people with a 64GB option, because people would buy the 120GB Zune. Have you ever though that they are going to release a huge 10 year anaversery or something? Also, so what? It's been 2 years since an upgrade. Why freak out? It's a classic, it doesn't need to do anything more. Also, the Zune HD and other Zunes haven't been updated in over 3 years,,, many products just don't need them right now.

Definitely looking forward to this update. It's long over-due and I think it will make up for lost time.

We heard something really similar to that when every other company released video-playing mp3 players before Apple did, and Jobs said he didn't see anybody wanting to have portable video. Well, Apple bit its tongue and released it, calling it "innovation".
I'm a big iPod fan (i've purchased 3) but wireless capabilities is the way of the future. I don't see ourselves in 10 years still being limited by wired headphones and such. Maybe it'll be easier than the Zune (haven't seen the demo) but the idea of beaming a song for somebody else to download/hear is pretty cool to me.
Nah, I think Job's is right that fact that you don't have wireless sharing gives you the "excuse" to get closer, which is always useful ;).

Another shot from the Olympic Revival DDP (Decentralized Dance Party). The two hosts decided it would be fun to move the entire crowd before midnight. I don't think the police were expecting it. Roads were blocked for a good 30 minutes as people just wondered down the street.

Ssteve,
I wish you had read my post a little more closely. I did not go through with the exchange process because the form did not accept my serial number as is. I had changed the last letter to see if it would accept something else.
Regardless of that, I will wait til an appropriate time to call or try online again with my serial number. No doubt it will work later either online or on the phone.
odd works for me too changing the last letter to a B instead of an A

EDIT: Holy crap, that was pretty convincing to a relative amateur like me. They seemed to basically do whatever they wanted to the system. Was there something underhanded here that I didn't catch that would make this unusable in reality, or is there valid concern based on this demo?
I haven't seen the video. But if the description of the vulnerability says "seize control" or "aribtrary code execution", it's the real thing. They can do whatever they want, although sometimes restricted by the privileges of the user that the compromised process is running as.

Despite all the hand wringing, it's hard to imagine many happy iPhone users would defect over a three month delay.
Much better to get new features three months later than ship in summer without them and have to wait a whole extra year for them.
Speak for yourself. Us with 3GSs will jump ship, Esp with all the awesome stuff google is doing. Apple needs to get on the game and release updates more often, not the opposite. That's a horrible idea! I mean... Unlike the other manufacturers, apple only makes ONE type of new phone a year. One.
Really apple? With all your magicalness and billions of dollars you can't make one new phone a year? Pathetic. Truly. 4g is gimmicky, and I don't think it's worth selling the truly awful iPhone 4 for three more months.
Speaking of gimmicky, I don't want to have to talk to my phone to do things. This voice control better come with a UI refresh. The OS 9 look is getting long in the tooth.

Yet people happily go there and spend money in droves, because as much as they dislike a large company bullying other companies (and in this case, the competition) and as much as they dislike supporting sweatshops or a bad employer, they dislike wasting their meager paycheck on markups even more.
It's the same Starbucks mentality that fills the world with hypocrisy.
I think you're giving people too much credit - I'll bet most don't know about Wal-Mart's shadyness, don't care and wouldn't care if they DID know.
It might not be David v.s. Goliath but all the suits at Wal-Mart certainly are a bunch of Philistines.

I've seen some 3G models that work great w/ 4.2.1 and some that don't. One was jailbroken, so I wrote that one off. The one thing I've seen that helped a s l o w non-jailbroken one was a double reset (force the phone to reboot, load, then force reboot once more). You could also do a complete wipe and see if it performs well before restoring your backup -and then do a piece by piece restore if that solved the issue.
I don't think 4.x is that bad for everyone on a 3G, but I have seen it in "slow mode"- and the people experiencing this are not making it up. It's -bad-. I wish there were a definitive fix other than trial and error as above and hoping you don't put something on your phone to cause it again...
Yeah, I think a freshly restored 3G with iOS 4.2.1 is okay. Something in the restore from backup part is where it gets s - l - o - w. I've seen it, too, and having a 3Gs which is quick (but not FAST) for most stuff, using the s - l - o -w 3G was like running Win XP on an old computer that hasn't had an OS rebuild in years with 1GB free hard drive space, high fragmentation, and 512MB of RAM. Usable, but one could justifiably argue against that. ;)

Logic is the perfect comparison. Audio guys had the exact same reaction when Logic 8 and 9 first appeared - it seemed to look more like GB so they assumed it was a toy with features stripped out. In fact, it removed nothing and added quite a few features valuable to pros (and in later versions fixed a LOT of bugs). What's the old clich about judging a book by its cover?
Logic Pro is a hybrid 32 / 64 bit digital audio workstation and MIDI sequencer software application for the Mac OS X platform.Logic 8 has new processing plug-in (Delay Designer), Apple included features such as Quick Swipe Comping, similar to Soundtrack Pro 2, and multi-take management.

You can do that now. Put in a CD and deselect the check mark to the left for any song you don't want ripped. I do it all the time.
Thanks, I'll try that. I've always had to hit the "burn" button and then select or deselect the songs AFTER the disk was ripped. Of course, I often don't know which song has the scratch until I've tried to rip the whole disk, but at least I'll be able to save the rest of the songs.

Wal-Mart is a massive contributor to officeholders in both major U.S. political parties, but especially those in the Republican Party -- so anyone who seriously thinks the company will be given pause by the probable illegality of its proposed actions is dreaming.

You guys are missing the point.
Obviously the '64-bit' refers to the fact that the new Apple machines are going to have a slot to plug in Nintendo 64 cartridges...
I thought that was a little obvious at this point but I guess I was wrong.

Can you add movies to your library that are already on your HD?
I choose file > add to library and selected a bunch of AVI files and it just did nothing.
I was just able to do that. I grabbed an old Quicktime video from an apple keynote done in 1998.
I NOW understand what that dialog box is for that I posted earlier. You can now encode any video iTunes will accept, for your ipod, within iTunes.
You no longer need Quicktime Pro, iMovie, or 3rd party applications to do so!
Rock on!!!
